Lucius Burckhardt - Promenadologie

Lucius Burckhardt (* 12. März 1925 in Davos; † 26. August 2003 in Basel) war ein Schweizer Soziologe und Nationalökonom. Er gilt als Begründer der Promenadologie.

"Ziel der Promenadologie ist das konzentrierte und bewusste Wahrnehmen unserer Umwelt und dabei das Weiterführen des bloßen Sehens zum Erkennen. Laut Schmitz hat der technische Fortschritt auch zu einer Entfremdung und Wahrnehmungsveränderung des Menschen im Bezug zu seiner Umwelt geführt. Der Blick des Menschen hat sich rasant verändert. Den ersten Schritt zu dieser Veränderung trug die Eisenbahn bei, es folgten Automobil und Flugzeug. Auch GPS mischt dabei mit, sich immer besser zurechtzufinden – und sofern man sich dessen nicht bewusst wird, kann auch diese technische Neuerung dazu führen, immer weniger zu sehen.^[2] Laut Weisshaar etabliert sich mit der GPS-Navigation aber auch ein neues Medium, das – künstlerisch eingesetzt – gezielt die Wahrnehmung sensibilisieren kann.^[3]
So geht es der Promenadologie darum, die Umgebung wieder in die Köpfe der Menschen zurückzuholen. Hierbei dient der Spaziergang sowohl als „Instrument“ zur Erforschung unserer alltäglichen Lebensumwelt, als auch zur Vermittlung von Inhalten und Wissen. Der Spaziergang ist insbesondere geeignet, Raumeindrücke und räumliche Bezüge unmittelbar zu vermitteln, da Raum letztlich nur durch die eigene körperliche Bewegung durch denselben erfahrbar ist und etwa nur durch „rein wissenschaftliche Beschreibung“ nicht erfassbar ist." http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promenadologie

New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA)

"New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) is a non-profit organization, based in Toronto, that presents performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art. NAISA’s annual events include: the Deep Wireless Festival of Radio & Transmission Art in May, the Sound Travels Festival of Sound Art in August, NAISA’s participation in the international Art’s Birthday celebration in January, as well as the NAISA Sound Bash Series in March and the SOUNDplay series in November. The objectives of NAISA are to foster awareness and understanding locally, as well as nationally and internationally, in the cultural vitality of experimental sound art in its myriad forms of expression. This objective will be achieved through the exploration of new sound technologies in conjunction with the creation of cultural events and artifacts."

ELECTRICAL WALKS - Electromagnetic Investigations in the City

Since the end of the 1970s Christina Kubisch works with the system of electromagnetic induction, which she developed from the basic technique to an individual artistic tool. In 2003 she started her research on a new series of works in public space, which trace the electro-magnetic fields of urban environments in the form of city walks. The first Electrical Walk took place in Cologne in 2004.
Electrical Walks is a work in progress. It is a public walk with special, sensitive wireless headphones by which the acoustic qualities of aboveground and underground electromagnetic fields become amplified and audible.

Soundwalk Collective - Medea

Medea is a sound journey around the Black Sea.

Medea is an original composition based on recordings of radio waves as well as voice and sound fragments collected by Soundwalk Collective during a two-month crossing in a sailing boat specially equipped with scanners, microphones and high-range aerials.
Medea reaches into Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Crimea, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria and embarks on a sound reading of a region of the world whose quivering beauty remains cruel and obscure – akin to the ancient Medea.
